Welcome to Project WealthWise; founded in 2025, we are a youth-led nonprofit dedicated to solving the issue of financial illiteracy, which is a global issue that has caused devastation in billions of lives!

We believe that being financially literate is one of the most important skills you can have. Knowing how to properly manage your finances ensures future prosperity and a comfortable lifestyle, whereas the opposite only ensures a constant life of stress and the miserable awareness that one lacks the knowledge of how to properly manage their money.

The problem of individuals lacking proper financial knowledge is becoming alarmingly serious. In the United States, about half of the adult population is financially illiterate- in a 2021 survey, Professors Annamaria Lusardi and Olivia Mitchell designed three multiple-choice questions concerning basic financial knowledge. Results found that just under 30% of Americans could correctly answer all of the questions, meaning over 70% were unable to answer questions concerning basic financial concepts- a fact which is extremely concerning.

Meanwhile, in Canada, over 60% of adults rated their financial knowledge as 'poor' or 'fair', saying they have a hard time understanding complex financial concepts and making good financial decisions.

Here's where it gets interesting- in Canadian high schools, 73% of high schoolers said they are aware they lack the knowledge to make informed financial decisions, while only 20% could fully comprehend basic financial concepts such as debt.

The fact that so many high schoolers could admit that they were lacking financial literacy shows- it is extremely important to bring some form of financial ed classes to high schools! Schools and universities enable us to make money, but they don't actually teach us how to manage it. Financial literacy is, instead of only you making money, you also learn how to make money work for you. By properly educating people of basic financial concepts and knowledge in their youth, we can turn around these numbers and ensure better lives for a countless number of citizens who would otherwise be struggling with their money for years to come.

So, how does all of this connect to us? Our mission isn't only to spread financial literacy; it's to bring it straight to where it's needed the most, which is high schools. We are working tirelessly to reach this goal, and you can be apart of it too! As of now, volunteer opportunities are yet to be released, but if you want to make a true impact on society while earning your high school volunteer hours, joining us ensures you are able to give back to your community and play a huge role in solving one of the world's biggest issues.

Make sure to follow us on Instagram and subscribe to our mailing list to never miss any new updates, including when volunteer opportunities are released!
